CARDVAULT / LEGAL RECORD
Account restrictions and suspension
Last updated October 1, 2026
This guide describes the platform's current enforcement behavior. Buyer strike thresholds and durations are configurable; the count and end date shown in your account notice are the values that apply to you. This guide complements, and does not replace, the Terms of Service.
1. Three different types of restriction
- CardVault uses separate controls for a full account suspension, a buyer restriction, and a selling suspension. A restriction on buying or selling does not by itself mean that the whole account is suspended.
- We apply a restriction to protect users, marketplace safety, and the integrity of deal records. We consider the behavior and available evidence; the examples below explain the current system rules and are not an exhaustive list of Terms violations.
2. Full account suspension
- An administrator may suspend an account for breaches of the Terms, suspected fraud or scams, conduct that harms other users, or materially false account or age information. The platform is for people aged 20 and over.
- A full suspension blocks authenticated account access and platform actions that require the account. The account is excluded from public seller and profile discovery, and other users cannot start a deal or message the suspended account.
- The user is notified of the reason. Full account suspensions do not have an automatic expiry in the current system; access remains restricted until an administrator lifts the suspension. Contact CardVault support if you believe the action is mistaken.
3. Buyer strikes and buying restrictions
- A buyer strike is recorded when the buyer cancels an active deal. Cancelling an active deal by blocking the other user still counts. A seller cancellation counts against the buyer only when the seller reports that the buyer is unresponsive and the system verifies the inactivity threshold. The current default is 24 hours since the buyer's last message in that deal, or since the deal started if the buyer has not messaged; this threshold is configurable.
- Seller cancellations for other reasons and automatic deal expiry do not create a buyer strike under the current implementation.
- The current default threshold is 3 active strikes in a rolling 30-day window. Administrators can change the threshold and window in platform settings; the cancellation dialog shows your current count and the applicable threshold.
- When the threshold is reached, the first restriction lasts 7 days, the second lasts 30 days, and the third and later restrictions are treated as permanent until an administrator lifts them. The first and second durations are configurable. A restriction already in progress is not extended by additional strikes. Once it expires, older strikes are cleared from the active window; prior restriction rounds can still affect the duration of a later restriction.
- While restricted, the buyer cannot start a new purchase deal or submit a new offer. Deals and orders that were already in progress can continue. The restriction notice shows the end date, or explains that the restriction is permanent.
4. Selling suspension
- An administrator can suspend selling for suspected fraud or scams, poor buyer reviews, not responding to buyers, or another policy reason. For the 'Other' reason, the administrator must add an explanation. This is a selling-only action and does not suspend the account.
- The administrator can choose 7, 30, or 90 days, or leave the suspension in place until it is lifted. During the suspension, active listings are hidden from buyers and the seller cannot publish new listings. Listings that become active during the suspension are hidden again.
- The seller can still sign in, buy, use other available account features, and complete deals and orders that were already in progress. A timed suspension is lifted automatically at its end date and eligible listings are restored. An indefinite suspension requires an administrator to lift it.
5. Notice and review
- In-product notices explain the restriction that was applied. A selling suspension notice includes the reason and end date, or says that it remains until an administrator lifts it. A buyer restriction notice includes its end date or says that it is permanent.
- If you believe a restriction is incorrect, contact CardVault support and include your username, the notice or deal involved, and any relevant evidence. You may request a review; submitting a request does not automatically remove a restriction. The platform does not currently publish a fixed review timeframe or provide an in-app appeal workflow.
